The 5.5 wheels on the civiliam Power-Wagon differ from the 5.5 wheels on the Military 1/2-ton Dodges. The military version has a deeper offset allowing dualing as you discussed. The civilian version does not have quite as pronounced of an offset and can not be dualed (at least not as effectively). Because of the deeper offset, the Military version does not always fit correctly on a civilian Power-Wagon. These wheels will sometimes contact the larger brake drums found on the civilian trucks. A definate no-no. Forcing the lug nuts tight on a military wheel that is contacting a civilian brake drum will at best force the braking surface out of round, and at worst, break the drum.
