I spent last week in Reno visiting the grand kids. It"just" happened to be Hot August Nights (by design). I had a great time. Great cars and great music. I went to several concerts including the Temptations.

I had my WC 53 Carryall with me and had a blast. I was not a registered participant as the waiting list is 2 years long. I did cruise a couple of times. People really liked the Carryall. Several high end Rod body shops and exotic car dealers really liked the truck. I was stopped quite a few times and often found crowds around it when parked, especially at Summit Racing. A lot of people thought it was a Willys which happens all the time and were quite surprised it is a DODGE. I even went through a Mopar gathering and no one had a clue that mine was a DODGE.

The Carryall is still in Reno. I was suppose to bring it back but the shop could not get to it due to Hot August Nights. I am having some final interior work done. It is wierd to have someone else work on it as I have done all the work so far.

Hot August Nights was fun but you get kind of tired of looking at 50's and 60's Chevs which wer a dime a dozen. There were fewer Fords of that era and very few Mopars. There were a good number of older Ford and Chev rods and a couple of Mopars. I was suprised at how few Mopars were there. There needs to be a much bigger Mopar showing.

The quality of cars and trucks ranged from fantastic to junk. The overall quality was good. The 55, 56 and 57 Chevs as a group were the highest quality. There were quite a few unrestored cars that were quite good. I was surprised a a few cars that had a lot of money in them but the body work was really poor under an expensive paint job(many had blemishes in the body work that should have been fixed). There were several cars where you just looked at them an your jaw dropped. Not any fancier or equipped better than other cars but you just went "Oh My". You knew that you were looking a top quality.

It was a lot of fun. I still have to make a trip to pick up my truck.
