Dan, I think I have the same model trailer. I got lucky and found one local for $2500.00
It's a nice trailer. A word of warning buy a spare wheel now before you need one. For some reason Mac Lander uses a 15X8 8 lug wheel. It doesn't match any production vehicle that I've found. I did find that U.S. Wheel makes one . Maybe yours has 16X8 wheels?
I like to use four of the 2 inch ratchet straps myself. I also recheck the load every time I stop. It only takes a moment and it can save hours.
If you go with chains, There is a product we use for sheathing hydraulic hoses and cables at pivot points. It's made out of Kevlar . I slip a sleeve of the material over the chains where it will contact the axle or frame. It's not 100% but it protects fairly well. You can get it just about anyplace they make hydraulic hose assemblies.
