Only guessing here since I have never seen the truck in person, but I don't think that is an A-frame/gin pole/pole derrick. Though the parts that were used may have come from one of those assemblies at one time, it looks like this assembly just consists of parts welded in place. It looks like its purpose is to route the winch cable over the cab and to lift at the front of the box to dump a load. This was a rather common technique to develop a "poor man's" hydraulic dump box. You will even find the same sort of setup to lift a "poor man's" snowplow.
