Norm:

I sure could, but it won't change anything. Still, if I wanna complain I WILL, so there (I don't know what letters to use to show me sticking my tongue out and sprayin you). Now go stick your head back in the ground (or butt) and say "Man does not affect the enviorment." Again, if what we do now will be something that can not be repaired remains to be seen.

Long ago, the Chicago River was very dirty and actually pretty damn scummy. The original mayor Daley made a proclamation (he could do that since he was "Da Boss"). He declared that people would be able to fish out of the river again (there were no fish in it at the time) and not get sick from eating them.

I'm here to tell ya that has become a truth. The river is so much cleaner now and fish populations are growing. I used to work for the EPA (them commies, right Norm). We did core samples from Wisconsin to Indiana a mile off shore, in Lake Michigan.

We discovered some HOT zones, and I will never eat anything that comes out of that lake. I saw mutant salmon and other weird things. We did a 2nd core sampling 5 years later, after new laws were made and FOLLOWED.

The lake is making a comeback, but those HOT zones are still pretty bad. I still won't eat anything that comes out of there. I don't even want to swim in it. It wasn't nature or cycles that poured all those PCB's or raw sewage into the lake. It was mankind.

All I'm sayin is there needs to be a balance. Overall, the US is doin pretty good in trying to make things right after we screwed things up. We as individuals can do small things to help, but shouldn't have to take all the heat.

By us driving our cars/trucks, well IMHO, it don't amount to doin that much wrong. The factories using coal and dumping all that sulpher into the air are much worse and add up to more damage then we individuals could ever do. Still, we need em. However, we can't let em do whatever they want, dumping or pouring whatever they want where ever they want.

Then again, what difference does it make when we (the US) corrects it's mistakes, and these other so-called 3rd world countries do the same wrong/bad stuff. Oh well.

Later
Ugg
