I have some info on using a distributor from a Mopar slant six(/6 ) and the distriburor shaft from the Flat Head. It is from a old e mail . I cut and pasted below.

Yes, I use the vacuum advance with a Rochester Monojet carburetor. You
would not use the vaccum advance or centrifugal advance with fuel injection.
It really is pretty easy to do. Knock the pin out of the drive gear and
remove the shaft from the top of the /6 dist. Measure the diameter of the
flathead dist housing and turn down the /6 housing to that diameter. You
might be able to put long bolt through the shaft hole and spin the housing
using a drill press. I use a lathe and file. Take the top half off the /6
shaft (remove the felt down inside the top end and the little wire retainer
under it and the centrifugal mechanism comes off). Disassemble the flathead
dist in the same manner to get the lower shaft, and reassemble into /6
housing.

Use your choice of 70s GM HEI 4 pin module or Chrysler
box/resistor etc. On the GM 4 pin the dist pickup wires go to the pins on
one end, ign = +, c = coil negative term.
