when you say spark "in the dist" do you mean the points are sparking? If so then the problem lies in the Secondary Voltage. I.E. the rotor is sitting on the head lol. look inside the new cap and make sure the spring loaded contact is there. I bought one recently and that was not in the dam cap!! then make sure the cap and rotor are a match for your dist. if the cap is the wrong one the rotor won't make contact with the cap. Check coil wire.
