You are hauling something for $ its commercial. I have always wondered about that seeing it on this forum. What happens if there was a wreck. Who pays for your truck on the trailer. Its one thing to buy a truck from someone and they bring it to your house and you 2 sign the deal and exchange cash then I would say is fine because the truck on the trailer is still the original owners.

Bottom line is liability. Someone may be helping you out by hauling to help with fuel costs and its all good until something happens. You may be out of a truck if it gets damaged in a wreck and as the driver/hauler I would think the problems that would come with a wreck would really be bad. DOT would come downon you with a fat fine. You would have to replace or repair the truck on the trailer. Your rig would be damaged or need replacing. Your insurance may or may not cover a single thing if they can prove you were hauling for $$. If there were injurys and damage to the other vehicle on the road involved in the wreck then you got to deal with that end of it. It could end up being a financial disaster for the hauler.
