After reading the comments below to Michael Fanoni's Brake Woes question I decided to do a cost comparison between the two options.

I purposely left out new brake lines, master cylinder costs, etc, since they would be common to both options and are not included in Helitool's price.

Helitool Disk Brakes, $495.00
Includes:
2 brake hoses with adapters and banjo fittings
4 hub races (cones included??)

Additional needed:
2 rotors, $30 ea = $60
2 calipers, $60 ea = $120

Disk Brake Total (1 axle) = $675.00

Drums 1 axle (VPW prices):
4 Shoes, $23 ea = $92.00
2 wheel cylinders, $28 ea = $56.00
2 brake return springs, $6.50 ea = $13.00
2 hoses (front), $17.50 ea = $35.00
2 wheel cylinder inlets, $4.00 ea = $8.00
2 drums, $65.00 ea = $130.00
2 Bearing Sets, $85.00 ea = $170.00

Drum Brake Total (1 front axle) = $504.00

Helitool includes 4 new races as part of the conversion, the question is does it include new cones to go with the new races? This will make a difference in the cost comparison.

In the drum cost break down I included reconditioned drums at $65 ea which may not be needed ($130 savings). Also note that I included the full cost of a set of bearings ($85 per wheel).

Bottom line from strictly a cost perspective and assuming that new drums and bearings are needed there is only a $171 difference between the two.

I tried to do an apples to apples comparison, if I've left anything out please comment.
