WC-53's were not built and supplied with a winch. I used Power Wagon Long frame extensions, MU-2 winch. The rear mount for the MU-2 that spans the frame rails was for a wm300 PW. In my application that worked better than the WDX style rear mount. Working MU-2's can be found in the $1K range, may still need a rebuild once inside. Power Wagon winch bumpers work fine. Original bumbers and all mounts are are to find, I would guess $300 to 400. The repo stuff, in my opinion is 'less' that desired. Complete bumpers are hard to find. If you see one in decent shape, grab it.

MU-2 winches were supplied depending on rating given by Dodge with Shear pins of 1/4" or 5/16" As supplied to Dodge by Braden, they were always delivered with a 1/4" shear pin. This info was supplied by a Braden Engineer I spoke with. Braden had only one rating for the MU-2. Dodge found by going with a 5/16" shear pin, they could up rate the winch power.

Depending on transmission, winch drive line clearences to the front, available real estate going to the front, will dictate how you will have to run the shaft drive. You may also consider a Hydraulic Drive on the MU-2 as I dod on my Carryall.
