I think I would take being careful as not screwing around with that stuff. Ten years ago I cut off a finger with a table saw. The hand therapy place had a room with a bunch of patients sitting around in a circle in what amounted to school desks with your hand propped up. A Physical Therapist would walk around the inside of the circle and check each patient out. Meanwhile, the patients were checking out the other patients injurys. Most were carpal tunnel and nothing gruesome but there was a kid of about 14 whose hand consisted of a palm. No thumb, and no fingers, just a palm. I had the oportunity to ask the therapist what had happened to him, and she said he had been making a pipe bomb and it exploded in his hand. He wasnt a terrorist, or going to blow up the school, he was just screwing around. He will have the rest of his life to think about how nice it used to be to have fingers and a thumb. We have all done stupid things as kids and more or less survived it but now that the common sense gene has kicked in I find it is just not worth it. I keep waiting for my finger to grow back and I dont think its going to happen. My advice is to let your friend blow himself up if he wants to but go to the local fireworks display to get your fix on big booms. I am glad you got off as easily as you did.
