The unit would have to be placed after the transfer case and would effect the rear wheel drive axle only, and help with road speed. If you were to build such a unit, it would have to be priced at a cost less than a Ranger type Overdrive which sits in front of the transmission, and provides a more useful ratio selection effecting the rear and FRONT axle.
I think the Ranger type is $2,500.
