I have Lockrights (the only kind possible for stock axles) front & rear in my M37 and Carryall; rear in my B1PW. For the front power steering is recommended but not totally essential. The main difficulty in locker installation is taking apart and properly putting together the diff carrier. Also, strongly advise buying bronze thrust washers from Veteran Vehicles or I hear there's a stock steel thrust washer from late model Dodge 9.25" axles that fits. The fiber thrust washer disintegrates easily, and if it does the side gears get crooked and can cause shear/breakage of the little pins in the locker. Also side gears must be in good to new condition to properly engage the Lockright driver. when installed properly and everyhting working right, they do what they are supposed to do, you have four wheel traction and yet cornering is no problem. I drive them on ice and I'm still alive to talk about it. Anyone going into their diff for any reason should install Lockrights particularly in the rear unless their truck is a conversation piece.
