I'm surprised that one of the other Crusty Old Men has not jumped in and mentioned the tax issue. There's nothing I will avoid more arduously than taxes and loan interest - lawfully.

A significant part of the pump price is highway and other taxes. That's why there is dyed diesel fuel. And there are penalties for operating a vehicle on the highway using fuel for which the appropriate taxes have not been paid.

Follow your conscience, but you might not want to discuss doing anything potentially illegal on an open internet.

BTW, diesel here is $2.70 including taxes. P100 at $2.45 with taxes due might not be all that much of a bargain - particularly with legal excpenses and penalties.

Willy-H might want to look into getting a lawful exemption to use dyed diesel based on the exclusive use of the tender for fire fighting.
