Vegetable oil has a higher viscosity than Petroleum diesel, so there is a chance that you can clog the injectors at temps below 170 degrees. Since the ambient temperature of a running engine is more than 170 degrees, the situation is only present at start-up. The company below makes retro installed heat exchangers and pre-heated filters to correct the problem, they also make pumps and strainers to run free re-claimed vegie oil from your used fryer oil or from resturants or other sources.

This s NOT blended Bio-diesel, this is P100, which is pure, un-altered vegetable oil.
Ugg is correct, Rudolf Diesel designed his motor before there was petroleum diesel, he designed it to run on P100 (peanut oil) but ANY vegie oil will work and result in better engine wear and fuel economy.
Warning: P100 suppliers do not recommend using P100 in 1998.5 to 2002 2nd Generation Cummins, because the Bosch fuel pump has been unreliable with petro diesel and it may fail and Dodge will not cover your warantee. 1st and 3rd Generation Cummins use a different pump and have reported NO issues with pre-heated P100.
