Sorry for leaving out all the info Keith, here we go.
truck is a 52 FF, I rebuilt a 1966 dodge 318 @ 60 over, so it's noy a 327 CDI. The block was hot tanked and the water passages were power washed out. I have a spring in the lower hose to keep it from colapsing, the fan is the OEM five blade off the 318. The T stat is a 160 and has been pulled and checked twice on the stove,
I overheat going down the road with no load.
when I say over heat, the temp gage is up to 200F and climbing. One thing that just came to mind when you wrote about the lower hose is, the lower neck that was installed, seemed to be smaller than the hose coming off the water pump, I just figured it cammed for a reduced size hose end at the radaitor. ? not sure about that effect on the system.
