Geez, where is it written if you have a bum generator that it cant be replaced with an alternator? I replaced my inoperable generator with a GM 1 wire alternator. What a bad person I must be. If generators were so perfect why were alternators invented and used on more vehicles than ever had generators?
This guy asked a simple question and you crucify him for asking if its possible to make a modification that a lot of Power Wagons have had. Not to mention that from 1957 and on the alternater was a factory option.
