"10" numbered winch(es)

Was at WWII Weekend in Reading this past weekend.
A reenactor (or collector) had a WC56 that he made into a WC57 just by taking simple angle iron to make the frame extensions.
I noticed the number on the winch started with "10" as previously mentioned in an earlier post.
Any idea as to how the "10" numbers were used as ??
