Question 1... Is the REAR early angled bracket usable on a later 251 ci engine PW with 17" frame extensions?
Question 2.... The opposite, LATE flat stock rear bracket, can it be used on an earlier PW with 230 ci engine and 15" frame extensions?
Answers – No to both questions 1 and 2. On the later trucks equipped with the 251 engine, the radiator had to be moved forward to clear the longer engine. This, in turn, meant that the winch had to be moved forward also. Since the winch did not change in design, the move forward was accomplished by using longer frame extensions. The truck frame did not change in length, and neither did the locations of the existing mounting holes in the frame for the winch. So, by moving the winch forward (by using longer frame extensions) the rear mounting L-angle bracket would no longer line up with the existing winch mounting holes. To correct this problem, a new rear mounting bracket was developed.
(Front Brackets... 1950 PW and 1964 PW FRONT
brackets are right angled, but the 1964 PW bracket is shorter at 25.75" in width and 1950 PW front bracket is longer, at 29" with 2 support triangles welded in 4 " from each end.)
Question 3....Can the 1950 230 ci engine FRONT 29" winch bracket be used on a later 251 ci engine PW with 17" frame extensions?
Question 4....Can the 1964 251 ci engine FRONT 25.75" width bracket be used on an earlier 230 ci engine PW with 15 " frame extensions?

Answers – I do not have winch angles in front of me to measure, but both the 1964 and 1950 front winch mount L-angles should be the same length and interchangeable. Neither should have triangles welded to them. It sounds like the L-angle from your 1950 has been modified.
