The lower is probably from a 251 engine which would be correct for that year PW, if it’s the correct engine in it. Obviously, some mechanics aren't particular. There should be a part number in the manifold casting which will be what you want to use in looking for a replacement. There are excellent welding rods available that you can use as a repair or you can use brazing rod to repair it. If you do decide to repair it, drill a 1/8 hole at each end of the cracks before welding, that will prevent further cracking. www.turnerautowrecking.com will more than likely have what you need. For the engine you have, when you do locate the part, pay the price for it. When go to NAPA to get parts, tell them to use a 1947 Desoto Custom. It uses the same 237 engine and parts will fit your truck engine. Also get the distributor's number off the distributor for buying parts for it.
