I put a 86 LA 318 in my 56PW and ran into interferance with the starter and the power steering box too. I moved the solenoid back on the starter to gain clearance. I did ask Ray about it and he said there were two other ways to deal with it. One being rotating the starter and drill and tap new holes in the bell housing, or get an older chrysler 2 bolt starter and mount with only two bolts. I think the older starter needs a different ring gear though, because the number of teeth is different.
