If it were a year old, I would maybe try to run the old gas, mixed with freash , but 5 years old? I would not run gas that old through the engine, diluted with new gas or not. You're going to ruin things if you do.
If the gas thats in there is not all that much (say less than 10 gallons, I'd drain it all, then mix in a few gallons of old motor oil, then cart it off to the local waste oil facility and dispose of it.
