Your NV-4500 from a 360 should have a 1.125" x 10 spline input shaft. For Diesel operation you want the 1.250" x 10 spline input shaft as used on the 5.9 Diesels and 8.0 Gas engines. Changing the input shaft is simple. Any transmission shop that does manual trannies should be able to do it for you in 15 minutes. You just need to pay close attention to end clearence, spec is in Dodge Shop Manual. You can buy a new 1.250" x 10 spline input shaft from Advanced Adapters and matching bearing retainer for $150 less shipping. This new input shaft comes with bearing and seals. You will need to buy 4 new bolts from dodge to retain the bearing retainer. Dodge Cautions against re-using them in the shop manual. I just did this input shaft conversion on my 2000, NV-4500 that is now installed in my M37.

ON 1993 to 2000 NV-4500's (gas engines) that were equiped with Dodge 4WD transfer cases, the output shaft is 23 spline and T case input is 23 spline. On 1993 to 2000 NV-4500HD ( Diesel and V-10 Gas) the output shaft is 29 spline.

The output shaft was changed on 2001 and newer NV-4500 to a 29 spline output shaft, all models. If you plan to marry a NP-205 T case, you will need to find a 1989-1993 Dodge NP-205, as was used on the Diesels behind the Getrag 5 speed tranny. The Getrag had a 29 spline output and the NP-205 had a 29 spline input. You will also need a Dodge (mopar) drive coupling 29 spline x 29 spline, Mopar # 1-04505302. Then with the drive coupling the NV-4500 is a direct plug into the NP-205.

There is a output seal issue if you use a NV-4500 and NP-205 T case. If this is your plan, email me and I will go into detail with the seal issue. Not earth shaking, but needs attention to do 'it right', a few minutes on a lathe.

I have lots of other part numbers for Cummins 4B series to NV-4500. Email me and I will help in any way possible, might have to switch to a phone call, I type slow ha ha.

And if anyone wants to mount a NV-4500 or NV-4500HD on a Chrysler 360, I have a 360 Bell housing off a 2000 Dodge that my NV-4500 wasmounted on. I'll sell it for a good deal as I have no use for it.
