Pilot bushings are easily removed with a tap- just keep screwing it in, it'll thread and then screw the bushing right on out.

My biggest concern with your old parts would be the integrity of the old disc- if you tore chunks out, did you also crack it up? A loose piece of facing can get into the works and prevent full release, causing grinding gears and wear to tranny.

When I worked doing line work in a shop with a brake lathe, I would mount the disc on the lathe to check it's alignment- one bent "rebuilt" disc will make you take precautions.

Also, get/make some loooong studs to screw into bell housing, then simply slide the tranny down the studs 'til full insertion. Prevents bent discs that way. If it don't catch, step on the clutch pedal and BONG! the bell housing rings when the tranny hits home!

NEVER LET A TRANNY HANG ON THE DISC! Wrong time to take a break! The weight of the trasnny can bend the disc hub...
