the germans used air cooled engines in the extreme temps of wwii - hot deserts & cold regions without fail. air cooled engines radiate the heat they produce like a radial airplane engine and have many fewer moving parts. as far as parts are concerned, i know little about the deutz except that they have spanned the decades in parralel with our dodges and american motors. im going to do a 4bta in a grand wagoneer eventually, but exploring all options and variants is fun. sometimes the foreign alternatives are better than ours. im also trying to procure a 27 or 36 horsepower diesel outbord for a boat application. they are made by yanmar, are used worldwide, and are BULLETPROOF. you cant get them in the states because the domestic producers know that like when the yamaha engines came in its GAME OVER. maybe marty can buy one for me in canada and smuggle it to jonas so he can cut it up with his ax and ship it to me in parts via ups!!
