Dan, glad yours was what you expected.
Before I bought mine I called down & got one of the mechanics on the phone. I asked why they were selling them & which ones to bid on since I really only wanted powerplants & couldn't care less about the rest of the body or chassis. He said to buy the 1988 trucks. He said to stay away from the older p600 models only because they were converted to 4BT years after they were purchased & adapted to fit the old transmissions. He said the 11" clutches were to small to handle the Cummins's torque & they just weren't as nice a combination. The 1988's were converted by Cummins when they were brand new & the 4BT, clutch & transmission were a drop in unit. You can identify the newer ones buy opening the hood & looking at the engine. If it's tilted on a 15 degree angle...it was adapted. If it's sitting level, it's a newer unit installed by Cummins.
None of this will matter if you're going to an NV4500 anyway but just thought I'd pass it along for future bidders.
