Better yet, do like they plan to do at the Canadian border and make it where passports will be needed to crossover. Even better, change the law to where everyone born in this country is an automatic citizen to where if a child is born to illegals, it is also an illegal, and then bill the country of it's origin for medical care and any legal, travel, and any other expense they incur while here.
We have a local politician (whom I personally dislike), but has been saying things that do make sense. To wit; 1st, SEAL THE BORDERS so no more illegals (or anybody else) can enter without permission. Then, fine all the current illegals $2K. Make them pay all back taxes for what they earned in the US.
Then, over the next 5 years, they have to work and stay out of legal trouble (with a 45 day grace in between jobs) and learn English. At the end of the 5 years, they will be eligible to register for citizenship.
That will be a 6 year program where they will have to leave the country and come back. They will also be required to take citizenship classes. This politician's name is Luis Gutierez.
