Ok,
I was putting the heat riser together, right by the "oficial" Dodge manual, it says to retate the shaft counter-clockwase all the way, then fit the bimetallic spring, as per the picture and wrap it around the post. Thats all fine, but it puts spring tension on the butterfly plate holding it in the open position. My reasoning (which may be wrong) is that when the engine is cool, the plate should be closed. as it heats up the spring should open the plate. If this reasoning is correct then the heat riser is somehow put together wrong. Any help is appreciated.
