Some repair information related to a post way down the forum. If you have a mechanical pump that is not working, but you believe it to be in good condition, you can do the following:

1 - Unbolt the pump and gas lines
2 - Have a helper turn over the engine while you hold the pump against the block port and a finger on the port for the fuel tank line. If you feel little or no vacuum, you can arc weld a 1/16th layer of steel on the pump arm that rides on the cam.
3 - Using heat block or wet rages around arm between pump and the end you want to build up, weld a 1/16th layer.
4 - After pump arm cools, retest using step 2. If no or better vacuum, weld another layer and retest until you have a fairly strong vacuum.
5. Finish surface with grinder/file to smooth area that rides on cam

This procedure works for worn cam loabs, worn fuel pump arms and incorrect fuel pumps.

Electric fuel pumps work with today's gas just fine.
