Its all well and good until your trailer 12volt charge pulls more then the circuit is good for or you get a short. This doesnt have anything to do with the 12volt going to the lights but the hot 12volt pin on the big round plug. Some pop up campers have been known to run their lights oor be able to be charged from this 12volt supply as you truck down the road to a camp ground. Also some times when you add on a harness they tap into the 12volt wire at the fuel pump unknown to you. Your truck dies and you are left walking when a short in the trailer causes the problem. Looks like the new style Rams may have this taken care of due to what Paul was saying.
