Frustrating oil leak

I have a 48' ffpw that has an oil leak from the rearend through the seal that rides on the nut. At first I thought I'd be cheap and just replace the seal, that lasted about two days. Next I got under there pulled the vent off, drained the oil out of the housing, and sprayed solvent in the top until it ran out the bottom, then I cleaned the vent itself, stuck that back together, put a new nut and seal on the hub. That lasted about a month, now it leaks worse than it ever did. I did notice that the nut that I bought was not flat on the sealing surface, like the one I took off of there, but the seal fit on there tight, and it looks as though it is riding up off the smallest diameter of the nose of the nut. Also the pinion seal has always seeped a little, ever since I bought the truck a year ago, but it seems to have gotten worse since I put the new seal on the outside. The diff doesn't seem unusually warm after a run up the street and it turns smooth when its up on the jack stands with the driveshaft removed.

Any ideas????

Thinking seriously about pulling the third member on Sun. for a thorough going over. How heavy is it, can one man with a good tranny jack wrestle it out of there by himself?? (thinking it probably has something to do with the vent since the pinion seal seems to leak worse)

Any opinions are much appreciated!!!
