I don't think any old truck is really an "investment" unless you got such a screaming deal on it that you can turn right around and sell it as is where is for far more than you paid for it. Otherwise, it's a project, it's fun, it might get you lots of attention, but if you figure your time is worth anything, you'll never get your money out of it. Personally, if it looks cool to you, you have the bucks to buy it, and the county officials aren't hassling you too much about your junk yet, go for it! But don't expect it to be a money-making investment.
