Clint, now that you are associating with folks who run sawmills, see if any of them have some black locust.

It is very tough and is extremely decay resistant. It makes my chainsaw throw sparks when I cut it.

It was one of those species that were used as fence posts. Just cut down trees of the right size and use them for posts. Black locust also has very high heat yield, making it as good as oak for firewood. It grows pretty fast, too.

Watch out for the short thorns.
