I agree. I think a V8 is a highway only engine design. Most V8s you need to rev up to at least 3000rpm to get any usable torque out of and to me, that just an't cool. You'll do nothing but spin the tires with that. Any inline 6 or 4 is great for utilitarian, off road use.

Personally, I would go with a 225 slant six punched at least .60 over with 9 to 1 compression and a big cam with hyper pack intake and headers for a modern engine upgrade in a PW. But that’s just me.
