(1954 C1pw with flat top carb)The way the throttle body on my carb is set up now seems completely backwards to me. When the throttle linkage is not hooked up the throttle valve is open. To close it to an idle position requires a counterclockwise rotation of the throttle shaft in which I can feel spring tension, from the governor I assume.
If the throttle linkage would come apart or if the set screw would let loose this would automatically make the engine rev to its highest possible rpm or worse.
Should'nt the throttle valve automatically be closed and you should feel the spring tension upon trying to open it?
This is a used carb that someone put a new kit into it but I think he reassembled it wrong.
If this is wrong can the throttle lever shaft be turned without getting into the governor?
