I heard a similar story. It was about the Ford assemly plant in Somerville, MA. At the time it closed, the workers were assembling Edsels, and so the story goes, the partially finished cars were brought out back and bulldozed, to hasten the cleanup of the plant!
The plant is but 20 or so minutes from here, and my father used to stop and let us look in the windows at the assembly line. I took a couple of field trips through the plant when I was a kid in school, as well! The plant is now the Assembly Mall, and a lot of people don't know of its origins! Dave Maher
