The upside to the CUCV (Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear) is substantial aftermarket support, including a wide range of gear choices, axle shaft upgrades (and JY replacements, at least for the 14b), selectable and automatic lockers, steering linkage options (see http://www.offroaddesign.com/), brakes, wheels, etc.
While the Rockwells can be relatively inexpensive to buy at the outset, brake mods and wheels are expensive, they typically are custom shortened to fit on one-ton street driven trucks, and the last I heard there is no selectable locker for them.
