DO what I do, say "we are going to "X" for a sentimental time together, and it so happens there is an event on the way, where I can pick up a part or two I need"!
My wife hasn't gone off yet on me and we are coming up on 30.
BTW there are all kinds of craft shows etc in West Va in the fall, probably like New England, if she likes that.
