...the mind set that we are running out of oil is urban legend. The only thing we are running out of is politicians with the brains and balls to go against the enviromental extremists who will not allow drilling or even exploration. More than 45% of the world's known oil reserves are located in areas that people have decided they won't allow drilling. It is foolist and simplistic. Mexico announced yesterday that they have "discovered" the largest field yet known in the Gulf of Mexico, a 30 years supply, or more, is under the frozen tundra of Alaska, vast untapped fields are in Russia and Africa.
What has happened is that Oil companies and auto manufacturers have lost the will to fight public ignorance about the amount of oil and the environmental mitigation, they have lost the PR battle with the environmental junk science and they are turning to other means to fuel and power vehicles. The irony is that the engine of the future will be the most noisy and polluting engine of the past, the diesel. Now quieter, more powerful, cleaner and more efficient than gasoline. The rest of the world is nearly 50% diesel powered, America is behind the curve because of the gm gas conversion fiasco in the 70's and 80's. Look for some amazing technologies in diesels in the next 5 years. Chrysler will lead the way with the Cummins, Detroit Diesel and Mercedes Blutec engines. The engines are not on drawing boards, they are ready an dwaiting for the new low sulfur diesel fuel that is coming to market this Fall.
For all of your diesel powered needs see Paul in NY.....ha!ha!
