I post on the net, so I get spams. The spammers get our addresses from sites like this, that post email addy's openly. They use a "data mining" program that searchs the net for addy's. Hence the intentional mis-spelling of my email addy. Other sites use a later technique, of requiring a sign up that permits "private messaging", and keeps actual email addy's private. I'd guess that forum software costs more, as well as more bandwidth needed for every visit. Oh well, deleting 500 spams a week is part of my life. Of those 500 spams, about 15 are Pay-Pal phishing attempts, and 20 eBay, plus an equal number purported to be from banks where I have no accounts.

I do just enough business over the web that spam fighters don't help, I still have to scan the delete file for bonafide stuff from unknown addy's.
