Well, the horsepower on the newer PWs was a little more than 74hp. Mine beinging rated at 99hp gross and 87hp net, of course that’s a fresh engine so I would consider these numbers slightly less anyway. But, your absolutly right. It might rob so much to make it more of a hinderance than something more usefull.

I wasn't necessarily looking to install AC, but rather an onboard air system for running air lockers, power tools and whatever else. Although AC wouldn't be bad either, but I always loved the pop up cowl vent and roll out windshield, bugs or no bugs in my teeth/face. I guess if I lived in Texas, AC would be more of a necessity than a heater up here in Michigan.

I thought if I could mount the compressor where the variable speed governor for belt pulley operation would’ve went that would be the best location to put it. I am not sure if you can get 6v coils for the clutches. Then I would mount the tank somewere along the frame then install fliters, regulators, ect.
