I just got home today from pulling a 10K load over snoqualmie pass (big mountian), and never got worse than 12 MPG in a '01 24 valve with 3.55 gears and 265-75R16 tires I never shift into 5th (Overdrive) with that big a load. It's more about RPM's than MPH and the sweet spot seems to be 2100. So what I'm saying is, that I'm looking at the tach more than the speedo when I'm towing. I get 19.1 +or- whithout a trailer hooked up.
I'd run that truck to the dealer on Monday and throw a fit.
