Nicely put Gary. (Imagine an M37/PW/Carryall with $30K sunk into it)

Imagine taking the $30K+ that this new Detroit echo of the past costs and sinking it instead into an original M37, Power Wagon or Carryall. You'd have a rig that would definitely outperform anything Detroit could come up with and be far more useful both on and off road.

The Corvette and Ford/Shelby boys figured this out when they took on the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and others. Imagine in the 1970's taking a Corvette and sinking the $30,000 a high performance Porsche cost (at that time). You'd have a car that would outperform the Porsche. Many Vette owners did just that.

Or, on the other hand, imagine sinking HALF of the $30K+ the new Dodge Carryall is going to cost into an older rig. I daresay you'd STILL come out far ahead.

In my book, I can build a couple of decent vehicles for less than the INTEREST alone would cost. OK, maybe for that amount they wouldn't be on a par with the latest V-10 technology. But saving $30K+ in principle payment looks mighty nice.

If you have the money and can afford the expensive plastic retro rigs, fine. But please, don't try to pass them off as being as tough as the old trucks. I'll bet more older Power Wagons/M37/etc will still be around in 30 years that any of the new trucks.
