Another way to clean is to pour a can of carburator dip (not carb. cleaner but, The stuff that smells forever on your hands and comes with a parts dip basket).Leave it in for one or two days sloshing the tank when ever you pass by.Then dump out cleaner and rinse tank with hot water.Drain ,and rinse again with alcohol or gas line dryer (heet).Take a piece of flexable wire and run it back and forth in the fuel pick up tube to clean any scale on the wall of the tube.If you have the sender out you can see the end of the tube through the hole (good idea to take out I dont know if cleaner will harm cork float).This worked well for me.I used a can of dip that had cleaned sevral carbs. and was ready for disposal.You can buy refills at parts store with out the dip basket for less $ than the complete can with the basket.
