You might consider pole construction. Stick framing, balloon or platform, on a foundation is labor intensive and wasteful of material. Pole construction costs are 1/3 or less of a framed structure, and actually srtonger and more durable. Exterior appearance can be anything you want. I put up a 24' x 40' shop, 11' ceiling, and attic trusses, with a 1000 square foot 4 bay shed about 18 months ago. $10 K or so. A very versitile, quick technique. Not really pushed by the construction industry because it is so economical. Three good basic books, any one of which will provide enough information to make a decision (or build for that matter) are; Practical Pole Building Construction by Leigh Seddon, Low Cost Pole Building Construction by Ralph Wolfe, andPole Building Projects by Monte Birch. All available at Amazon.
