I have owned a 6.5 Chevy, a 6.9 Ford, a 7.3 Ford and now have the Cummins 5.9. Notice that it is the smallest of all of them. It will out pull, out mileage, and hopefully out last all of the others. This has been MY experience and I know there are Ford owners who will jump up and want to fight. My dad had a 99 Ford F-250 PS diesel and now has a 2000. He can probably out run me empty, but put the weight on and I'm gone. I wanted a crew cab but since Dodge did not offer one I got the quad cab 2500 shortbed. Dodge will offer the crew cab in 2002. If you go Dodge, get the 24 valve. It has more electronics but is a better running motor than the 12v (more torque and hp) and runs more rpms. By the way, the Fords are governed at a much lower top end than the Cummins, so while he may out run me empty I will catch him in the long run. I told him to get 2 extra doors with his truck....He asked why 2 extra doors?.....I said cause I am going to blow one off and suck the other down my intake as I go by......If you need any more info I'll be glad to help. Also look at turbodieselregistry.com Good Dodge site.
