The 231 v6 is a huge improvement over stock, especailly on the highway. With a heavy load on the flatbed, a v8 would be nice, but the fit is perfect with not too much added stress to the remaining stock parts. I have not calculated the gas milage, but would guess somewhere around 12-15.
