Recently acquired a WC 1/2 ton parts truck w/w. Previously someone had fabricated a "fork" about 3/4 in. thick to be placed over the main shaft on drivers side to act as a spacer when spool was engaged. The fork is easily removed from the shaft but saftey wired to grill so as not to be lost. Any ideas? It looks like it would function to keep the spool from sliding away from the engagment dogs (sliding clutch)?
The spool floats on the main shaft until engaged by the sliding clutch right?
Is there any type of spacer inbetween the spool/drum and the shaft bracket that perhaps this "fix" is substituted for?
