There is a 'proper' key for all these locks, and it is one of the 'H x00' series. It should fit door, ignition, tailgate, and spare wheel lock.

I can never remember the exact number, as I have Dodges, jeeps, and a DUKW and they are all suppose to be different, but the one that fits my Dodge spare wheel lock is H700.

A friend got one cut here in the UK, and he had to go to an old-time locksmith to get the right blank, but I would think it wouldn't be a problem in the US.

There are after market door locks available which will fit the Dodge, but if you have a look at the original the key slot and square drive are way down at the 6 o'clock position on the lock face, whereas the aftermarket ones have the key slot and square drive right in the centre. To fit the aftermarket one you need to put a round bar in the holding fixture in the door frame, and tweak it till the centre of the fixture points at the inner lock.

I have one or two originals somewhere with the square drive broken off, but they are really only good for parts or filling the hole.
