I can't comment on the Detroit's pricing, but I got
my Cummins 4BT as a frame cut from a Chevy step van from
a yard in Norfolk, Mass. for $2500.
I got everything except the body and the rear axle such as the
alternator, power steering pump, power brake booster,
radiator, mirrors, instruments, and an SM465 trans.
Thought you might like to know for comparison, especially as
they have more including one with an automatic...
